Having a background in weaving, one of my favorite fabrics is Damask with it’s reversible contrasting luster and intricate patterns. Damask derived it’s name comes from the fine patterned fabrics produced in Damascus Syria in the Middle Ages. With this cabinet I wanted to create the effect of a piece of Damask fabric draped over the top dropping onto the sides and front.

Utilizing reverse glass silk screening and layers of painted textures the complexity of pattern is achieved. I have enhanced the ‘fabric’ look with delicate scoring into the paint allowing gold backing to peek through.

The body of cabinet is textured Moon Gold, giving the perfect background for the richness and complexity of the faux Damask.

Cabinets can be custom ordered in different sizes and eglomise designs.
